With the increasing complexity of national proceedings and the entry into force of the Unified Patent Court (UPC) , Gide Loyrette Nouel and Regimbeau have decided to join forces and create one of the largest European partnership for patent litigation between Lawyers and Patent Attorneys: Gide x Regimbeau – Patent Litigation.
The two leading French firms, which have been working together for 30 years and share a wealth of experience in patent litigation, have thus created one of the strongest and most expert patent litigation team in Europe.
Gide has one of the largest team of patent lawyers in France, recognised for their expertise and skills, particularly in multi-jurisdictional litigation.
Regimbeau relies on highly specialised scientific experts in the most complex technical fields and on a recognised practice of patent litigation in France and internationally.
The creation of the UPC, which will come into effect on 1st June 2023, marks a decisive step in the construction of a harmonised intellectual property system in Europe. In this context, France will be home to both the headquarters of the central division of the UPC’s Court of First Instance and its French local division in Paris. This new jurisdiction will require a perfect mastery of all the components of French and pan-European patent litigation, within very short deadlines.
Thanks to their Parisian anchorage, at the heart of the UPC, the teams of the Gide x Regimbeau – Patent Litigation alliance will be able to coordinate all their offices and networks in France, Europe and internationally, wherever disputes may arise.
The scope of this alliance is patent and know-how litigation, within the jurisdiction of a national court or the UPC.
This multidisciplinary taskforce of some sixty professionals deals with all technical fields (from life sciences to new digital technologies, chemistry to mechanics and telecoms) and defends its clients in matters relating to patents, supplementary protection certificates and trade secrets before all French courts and, as of now, before the UPC.
“Thanks to this strategic alliance with Regimbeau, we have a major impact on the market and a global solution designed to respond to significant developments in the sector so as to provide our clients with an even more sophisticated and efficient quality of service in the resolution of patent disputes”, says Frédéric Nouel, Senior Partner – Gide Loyrette Nouel.
“While all eyes are on the entry into force of the UPC, we are particularly confident in our ability to respond together to the new challenges of this jurisdiction. Our in-depth knowledge of the French legal system and of the new UPC procedures gives us a significant competitive advantage in supporting our clients through this change”, says Anne Boutaric, Partner – Regimbeau.
